Paris - for the first time in three years!

It was strange to be in Paris again after lock down and COVID, but in the event I slipped right back into my old habits.  It was a lovely sunny day, and I really enjoyed my day out.

I met a friend at the Gare du Nord, and we walked to the Musee de la Vie Romantique, a two kilometre walk if one knows where one is going, and about twice that if one meanders about aimlessly and gets lost.

We made it just on time for lunch in the gardens.

It really is a lovely museum, I have put a link to the website in at the bottom of this post.  Lots of amazing paintings, and mementos of the inhabitants of the house that was turned into a museum.

The Paris Museums website describes it thus:

The Musée de la vie Romantique is a literary museum in Paris focusing on George Sand and other noted authors. The museum includes portraits of the authors, artwork based on their literature, or artwork by the authors themselves. Some personal objects including jewelry are also on display. Because it is close to the famous Montmartre area, the Musée de la vie Romantique is a perfect place to see when visiting the famous spots nearby.

Knitted Medusas - absolutely cool!

Museum entrance.  I made no photos inside, since one is not allowed to flash-photo

Great little place for lunch!

Inside a café - amazing home made sculpture

Just a random door way!

St Vincent de Paul church near the Gare du Nord - amazingly incongruous mix os styles, but strangely attractive.  See link below for Wikipedia entry

The current decoration of the Gare du Nord glass hall.  On previous occasions there was the half sunken house, now they are showing off the newly renovated library:

The historic home of France's national library, the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, has reopened on 17 September 2022. The building is an 18th-century architectural treasure that offers a unique cultural experience just a few steps away from the Louvre...

As usual, a visit to Paris ends in a café, discussing politics while waiting for the train.
